A vacation in the medieval town of Seborga, with stunning views and charm
Seborga is a small, high-altitude mountain village in northern Italy, known for its charming medieval streets, beautiful stone houses, and peaceful surroundings. Here you’ll enjoy an authentic Italian experience, far from the crowds of mass tourism, yet still close to both the coast and exciting cities.
Seborga is located in Liguria, close to the French border and just a short drive from the Ligurian Sea. This makes the town an ideal base for exploring both Italy and the South of France. Sanremo is about a 30-minute drive away. This is an elegant port city known for its beaches, casino, and flower festival, which is usually held in May. You can also experience Nice, with its French Riviera atmosphere, beach promenade, shopping, and culture (about a 1-hour drive). Here, you get the best of both worlds: the quiet mountain town and the lively Mediterranean cities nearby.
About the apartment
The vacation rental is a small, cozy one-bedroom apartment that can accommodate up to 4 people. The apartment features a small kitchenette with stovetop (but no oven), a double bed, and a sofa bed that sleeps two. It is therefore best suited for a family or a couple looking for a simple yet charming base for their vacation. Shopping options are about a 10-minute drive away. Please note that you will need to walk about 100 meters with your luggage, as it is not possible to drive all the way to the door unless you have a very narrow car.

An incredibly cozy apartment with the best terrace. The pergola is wonderful—it lets you sit outside and enjoy the view all day long. We ate in the town square on Saturday and Thursday and enjoyed the music and dancing. A local told us that the grocery store in town has closed permanently, so you can shop in the town of Bordighera down the mountain. There’s also a lovely beach there. In Bordighera, there’s a market in the town square on Thursdays. We took a day trip by train to Nice. Highly recommended to visit Seborga, for those who want peace and quiet and beautiful surroundings, and who aren’t put off by mountain driving.
A lovely home with a fantastic view, located in a small but charming mountain village. Several good restaurants are within walking distance, and there’s a grocery store just 50 meters from the house with a decent selection—and it’s no more expensive than the supermarkets down by the coast.
The perfect place to completely unwind in the small, charming town of Seborga. Shopping options in town are limited, but there are a few excellent places to eat.
The apartment is well-appointed and a cut above what you usually find down south.
The apartment is a bit dark, but this is more than made up for by the covered terrace.
The area managers are extremely welcoming.
Incredibly beautiful views from the terrace, where you can sit outside almost all day, despite the sun being very hot at times. A secluded, cozy little village that, despite its size, has everything you need. A wonderful place to really unwind.
A super cozy, beautifully renovated little apartment with a fantastic view, located in the most charming little Italian town. We stayed there during our summer vacation, and the town hosted two town festivals while we were there. There was a great atmosphere in the town square, and we were able to buy food and local wine.
Fantastic views. Beautifully situated at the top of the mountain. Great hiking trails. A cozy town festival every Saturday in July. The apartment is only suitable for 2 people (or a couple with small children), not 3–4 adults.
Please note that the apartment is in a remote location, so you should be prepared to drive about 25 minutes down the mountain by car when you need to shop, go swimming, or eat at a good restaurant. There is a lovely beach at the foot of the mountain, and we had a great time visiting the nearby Botanical Garden (which can also be combined with snorkeling and kayaking).
There are festivals in Seborga on Thursdays and Saturdays throughout the summer of 2023.
Put on your dancing shoes. There’s dancing in the town square.
For electric car drivers: There are two excellent charging stations in Seborga.
The grocery store might not have the widest selection on the shelves. But you can get almost everything you need!
Great hiking trails and not far from the coast. Bordighera is a lovely town with good restaurants along the beach.
Fantastic views from the terrace in the town that has its own princess and Knights Templar wandering the narrow streets.
A very beautiful location with plenty of opportunities for day trips.
Bike rentals along the disused railway track by the coast.
Three very different restaurants, but each one cozy and excellent.
You really slow down here; it’s so quiet in the evening, with only birdsong to be heard.
Truly fantastic location with panoramic views from the terrace. A small, charming mountain village with a small grocery store and three restaurants. It’s a bit secluded, but offers wonderful peace and quiet, beautiful nature, and hiking trails right on your doorstep. We highly recommend it.
