Karin Strandhus

This small town has a rich history dating back to the Roman period, as evidenced by the archaeological remains of a small amphitheater and the temple of the Liburnian goddess Latra. At that time, the town held the status of a Roman municipium. In the past, the town’s population was primarily engaged in livestock farming and viticulture, and today the main industry is tourism.

A genuine Croatian vacation atmosphere by the water

Karin is a small Croatian town with a rich history dating all the way back to Roman times. Here you can still find archaeological remains, including a small amphitheater and the temple of the Liburnian goddess Latra. The town was once characterized by agriculture and viticulture. Today, it is tourism in particular that draws visitors—and with good reason. Karin offers a genuine Mediterranean atmosphere, beautiful bays, and charming surroundings, making it an ideal vacation destination.

If you drive for about half an hour, you’ll arrive in Zadar, a historic city brimming with things to see and do. Here, you can take a stroll along the beautiful waterfront promenade, experience the famous Sea Organ, explore ancient churches, and enjoy a wide variety of restaurants serving both local specialties and international cuisine.

A super cozy and relaxing vacation in week 31 of 2025. The house is lovely and has a beautiful location right by the water. Take the beach chairs the 20 meters down to the pier and bring the house’s SUP boards—there’s a grocery store, bar, ice cream stands, and great pizzas 1.5 km away—BUT I highly recommend renting a car and exploring the area and heading to Zadar. Both to shop at a larger supermarket and to experience both Zadar and the beautiful nature. Walk about 500–800 m to the right along the waterfront; there’s a cozy beach bar here

    Really nice house and decor.
The only downside is the bathroom. I don’t understand why “we” can’t just fix that drain instead of everyone having to start by cleaning it upon arrival, as already described in the practical PDF. It can’t cost much to fix it for good or to have the cleaning staff take care of it every time.
Also, one of the SUP boards was defective (and reported as defective back in August 2024); it has been repaired now.

If you’re looking to relax and go for a swim at the beach, this vacation rental is perfect for you.
It’s located right on the waterfront. It’s a “lagoon” with access to the ocean, so it’s a quiet and peaceful area where you won’t be disturbed by jet skis or fast speedboats. The water is lovely and warm here in the summer. There is both a small beach and a pier with steps leading down to the water.
The house is a good size, featuring a large open-concept living room/kitchen with a sofa bed and dining table. There are two large bedrooms with closet space. There are two terraces, one of which is cozy and covered with grapevines growing up the roof. From here, there is a great view of the water.
There is a small “town” with several supermarkets, restaurants, an ice cream shop, market stalls, a small amusement park, and a beach 2 km away. Parking is available there.
We drove there from Zealand in 24 hours, including traffic and short breaks. It’s also possible to fly, and then rent a car at the airport.
A lovely house for relaxation for a family, two couples, or a romantic getaway.

  4. Allan Orup Hansen

A lovely house with everything you need. It’s located just outside a small town with some decent restaurants. But just a 10-15 minute drive away, there are much better dining options.
Fantastic views and very close to a private beach.

  5. Thomas Seest

A truly lovely place to stay in a less touristy area. We especially appreciated the newly renovated home with its lovely terrace, and the fact that it’s only 20 meters from the water. The house is a bit far from a well-stocked grocery store. The nearest Plodine is in Benkovac, about a 20-minute drive from the property. There is a built-in Chromecast in the TV, which the kids really loved.
    We had a wonderful vacation!

  6. Hanne Hvid Jørgensen

A lovely house to visit; it just needs some patio furniture on that balcony, where the sun shines in the morning

  7. Hanne Hvid Jørgensen

A lovely house to visit; it just needs a garden door on that balcony, where the sun shines in the morning

  8. Iben Sorgenfrei

A very nice house right on the beach. It’s in a local area, very quiet, with no nightlife—which we really appreciated! The downside, of course, is that you have to drive a bit to get to restaurants and such. Well-furnished, comfortable beds, and private parking! A lovely stone bridge right outside the house. Great hiking opportunities with varying levels of difficulty both nearby and further afield. Perfect for both families with children and older couples;)

  9. Ole Kjær

A fantastic location for a peaceful vacation right on the beach. A well-appointed house with comfortable beds and modern furnishings.
