Hacienda Competa

Vacation home with a pool, mountain views, and an authentic village atmosphere

Nestled in the heart of the Andalusian mountains lies the charming white village of Cómpeta, a classic Spanish mountain town brimming with life and atmosphere. The town’s winding streets are home to tapas bars, wine bars, and small squares where festivals with live music are held from time to time. When that happens, just follow the sound through the town, and you’ll end up in the square behind the town hall, where young and old alike gather for a true Spanish town festival. With just a 1-minute drive to town or a walk along the trails down through the mountains, you’re always close to the town’s charm.

  1. Birthe and Jens

Fantastic vacation rental for a large family.
    Unique kitchen facilities.
Everything was perfect and we felt very welcome.

  2. Poul-Erik Pedersen and Kirsten Norup

A very cozy hacienda with well-appointed rooms of various sizes and styles. Rooms 1–6 in the large, elevated building have many steps between floors and also down to the pool area.
Rooms 7–8 are located above the shared kitchen/dining room and are accessed via an exterior steel staircase, which can be slippery in wet weather.
Rooms 9-10 and 11 in the Pool House are the smallest rooms and share a kitchenette.
These three rooms are suitable for people who have some difficulty with stairs.
Excellent kitchen facilities and a dining room with plenty of space for communal dining indoors and outdoors.
We were a group of 15 family members ranging in age from 9 to 80.
The 80-year-olds used the Pool House for convenience.
Our stay was in late June and early July, with daytime temperatures reaching 37 degrees. It was bearable, as there was a light, pleasant breeze and plenty of shaded areas on the property.
All in all, a super nice stay at Hacienda Competa, and for visiting the surrounding towns and attractions.
Highly recommended for extended families of all ages and groups of good friends.

  3. Jonna Riber

An absolutely wonderful place—everything is just perfect. There were 10 of us, and we thought all that space was pure luxury. The outdoor area is ideal for both adults and children—the only downside is that it’s a 35-minute drive to the beach

  4. Charlotte Ottar Merland

Seven of us friends just went there, and what an adventure! We simply felt like princes and princesses in our own castle! I completely agree with the other reviews—it’s simply “outstanding” in every way, and we’ll definitely be back with friends or family. (The “only” four ⭐️ for location are due to the roughly 37-minute drive up the mountain to the beach in Torrox—or the more popular Nerja. But it’s worth the trip, and you can’t have it all at once.)

  5. Peter Bertelsen

A gorgeous home where you can escape the daily hustle and bustle, yet still be close to the city

  6. Dorte Nybroe

A truly lovely and spacious vacation home—ideal for a group of about 20 people, with a beautiful outdoor area and pool. The rooms are well-appointed, each with its own bathroom and kitchenette. All in all, the perfect setting for a multigenerational family vacation.

  7. Jan Ole Larsen

A fantastic hacienda for a large family gathering. We invited the family, and they could just come and go as they pleased. There was room for everyone, young and old alike. Even if they wanted a little privacy. Common areas and apartments with plenty of amenities and private terraces. Amazing views all around.
Be prepared for a 30-minute drive up the mountain. Then you’ll arrive at a charming local mountain village, which you can walk to if you’re up for a bit of a hike. There are plenty of restaurants and local activities.
There are many hiking trails in the area, but get a map first. You can go a long way.
The technology was a bit glitchy during our stay. But the issues were quickly addressed. Hence 4 stars for comfort.

  8. Peter Rasmussen and Dorthe Mejlvang (Rivolta ApS)

We were really happy with Hacienda Competa. The three buildings with a pool in between were the perfect setting for our group of 20 people, with plenty of space to spare.
We were impressed by the kitchen layout—there are simply two of everything: refrigerator, stove, dishwasher, you name it.
Virtually all rooms seemed to have their own refrigerator and, at the very least, a sink, in addition to a toilet and shower.
    Everything looked new and well-designed.
The town of Competa is quite nice, with plenty of shopping options and many restaurants. It’s a bit steep, but you can easily get around on foot.

  9. Lone Hedemand

A truly lovely hacienda with plenty of room for a large family or group of friends. Beautifully decorated and featuring a lovely outdoor area around the pool with a barbecue area, lounge area, dining area, and space for table tennis, darts, and more. The large, well-equipped kitchen has all the dishes needed for a large group, as well as 2 refrigerators, 2 dishwashers, and a large freezer. The apartments are all bright and welcoming, with kitchenettes, and many have access to balconies or terraces. A 10-minute walk (with a good pace) takes you to the town of Competa, which offers many lovely dining options and a genuine Spanish atmosphere in the town square. It’s a bit of a drive to the beach—about a half-hour to 45-minute mountain drive—so that’s why “only” 4 stars for the location, which otherwise offers absolutely fantastic views of the mountains and the Mediterranean Sea.
